Hello Gentlemen, Just came from the range with my Creedmore 1903A4 shoots great. I was wondering if anyone would share their favorite load for 300 and 600 yards for the Sniper Rifle Match. I was thinking of going with 168gr. Sierra Match King HPBT. I have never loaded 30 Cal. beyond 200 yds. Any help with with one load for both 300 and 600 yds. would be helpful for a starting point. Thanks in advance.

Sierra's published data for the 168MK is as good as any, better than most:

Accuracy Load: IMR-4064/47.9 grs.; 2700 fps

That's close to their "maximum", so you might want to start a bit lower.

MY 1903 Springfields shoot best with the 155 grain Palma bullets.

Imr 4350 gives me best results in bolt guns. It's a PITA in a powder measure, weigh them, it's worth the effort.

Thanks gentlemen for your replies, the info is very helpful. I have been doing some computer research, sometimes could be dangerous, and was looking at 4064 and came across some info for Vagret. This is the comparison I found on the Hogdon site for the two aforementioned powders;

4064 47gr. 2660 46,800 max 50.8 2850 57,900
Varget 47gr. 2710 42,700 max 50.5 2859 49,200 All for 168gr. HPBT
What attracted me to this were the lower pressures of Vagret. Any comments or experience with Vagret loads are welcome. TIA

Varget may work well, I have not used it much in .30-06. In the 1903 my best results were with IMR 4064, and IMR 4350 & H414 are excellent as well.

Use 48 gr varget with 165 gr f/b soft point in 06 hunting loads. Bolt gun and M1 with gas regulator, could probably get by without the regulator but don't like to hammer her too bad. No signs of excessive pressure. Accurate and clean burning.

A load I like
that closely duplicates the old M72 match load is;
175 grain Sierra match king over 47 grain of IMR 4895.
Norma brass Fed 210 primer.

I've used 45.0 grains of Varget pushing the 175 Sierra Match King bullet, using R/P Nickel Brass (easier to find in the grass, but i use the same load now with LC Brass) using Standard large rifle winchester brand primers in a 1in 10 twist .308 Barrel in a BOLT gun. This load stays supersonic at One Thousand yards in my Target Rifle (.308)
BTW.... this load also works great in an M1A and FN/FAL using a 150 grain bullet (or 147 pulled FMJ's). They chronographed at 2760 (the 150 grainers).
ALL DISCLAIMERS APPLY. your rifle and chamber are different then mine. Reduce all loads 10 percent and work up from there!

I use 46.5gr Varget under a 168gr Sierra HPBT Match, LC brass, in my 03-A4. Got it zeroed at 300yds, going to find a place to reach out to 600yds this week. 600yd ranges are hard to come by around here. I used that load last year at the Camp Perry Sniper Match and it worked fine. Changed scopes this year is why I need to check out how it will do at 600yds.
