Guys I have been looking at an early 1903. The stock is very nice and is stamped with the P on the bottom of the grip and the inspection stamp on the left side. It doesn't look like it's ever been sanded as the stamps are quite sharp. The receiver is an SA in the 450,000 range with a barrel dated 10-10. The bolt is a straight bent and I think there is a very small J on the bottom. It has a 1914 dated RIA sling in good shape and a SA 17 inch bayonet and sheath with a serial number in the 54,000 range. The finish on the rifle is about 80%. What I am asking about is the barrel original to the receiver? What should I be looking for and what would the approximate value be on this rifle. Thanks

What is the inspection stamp letters on left side of stock. And is it a none or one or two bolt stock. Other wise it sounds like bbl is correct to rifle. Sling and toad stabber are an added +

The letters on the stock in a box are J.F.C. The bolt has J1 stamped on the rear lug. The stock has one cross bolt.

Is the metal finish blued or parkerized? Everything else sounds correct. How much is the rifle?

The finish is blued not parkerized. The bayonet has been sharpened and it appears to have been chromed. While I do want to buy it I just do not know what the value of this would be so I can make a fair offer for it. There is some rust on the bolt handle and on the floor plate which appears to be in the white. Is this correct for it? Thanks

I want to thank you all for your information. Before I could get to the dealer who had it he sold it to a walk in for $2500 and that was more then I could afford.
