Stopped in a local gun shop and low and behold a piece of old world craftsmanship from '61. The wood is about 98% with a few small dings and the metal is 99.5% not a speck of rust anywhere and no scratches. There is dried factory oil on the bolt sleeve. I doubt it has had a box of ammo through. It had the single shot block in it and no mag. Redfield olympic sights with the Redfield rotory aperture rear sight disc.

Congats! That is sweet. 52's sure are pretty, and man are they accurate.

Now, if you can just find some ammo for it.....

Nice piece - thanks for sharing.

Go to this website and they will be able to give you more information on it than you'll be able to absorb: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=265

That is a feather in the cap of anyone's collection, a beauty!

One other thing on this rifle. The face of the muzzle is unfinished. Is this common on '61 era 52's? It has not been shortened!

They're not really unfinished, just finished flat and in the white.

Thanks,That's what it looks like. My other 52 HB target is blued on the face of the muzzle and the exact same length. When I noticed it at first I thought it may have been cut back.

Try Wolf ammo it shoots 1 hole at 50' out of my H&R M12.

I will, I have not fired it yet and I have a case of Wolf Match target and some older Winchester T-22 and various brands of std.vel. .22.

Try SK Rifle Match or Wolf Match Extra (basicly the same ammo). I did cheat shooting this group by using a scope.

Nice 52C. I have a stash of PMC Target made in Korea that shoots one hole groups. I'm not sure PMC still makes it but if you can find it is is great stuff.

Several years ago PMC went out of business. I guess the name has been bought by another company. I have one rifle that loves the old Zapper and I bought several cases back then. Does the new company make Zapper?

Went to their website. I see no rimfire ammo listed.

Looks like the rifle I bought from a man in 1967 and took to college with me. Modified the stick, sadly, adding an adjustable buttplate. Paid $75 for mine... A lot of money in 1967.

I paid about the same for this one in '67 dollars. $704.00 out the door.

I had one in 52c also , with canjar trigger , it shot really good . One of the few guns I've sold that I wish I still had . You got yourself one nice rifle there , congratulations , Kenneth

Well then, you got yourself one heck of a deal. But that's the way it goes: If your looking hard for one, you'll be lucky to find a decent one in the 850-900 range. I have 4 W52s now and most turn in their best groups, by far, with Eley Match. Ammo off the #1 machine seems to be best in factory barrels. Lapua Center X is a close second and more affordable. If you really want a fun challenge, mount an old Lyman Super Target Spot and shoot some groups at 100 yds. My C, at 50 yds, shoots consistent groups in the .17" range. At 100 yds, I can sometimes break 1".
