Rod bayonet rifle is a put together. Note the triggerguard contour. This is a later triggerguard, and always the place the mechanics mess up using a later guard.

This Model 1903 Mark I rifle was manufactured by Springfield Armory in April 1910 and has the special "Mark I" receiver markings

If it is the Mark I with Pedersen Device, I believe it was discussed here a couple of weeks back. The rifle has several "problems" including faked stock markings. Obviously, the PD is the main center of attention.

I've seen one other early single heat treated receiver that was also cut for a Petersen Device. It was mentioned that SA had probably been developing the receiver for experiments with low and high receivers. Don't know if it was true of not.
