Did my first bit of redneck gunsmithing on the 1911A1 tonight. Bobbed the hammer, recessed the slide release pin, notched the front sight and added high visibility paint. This custom work with the Dremel should fully explain why I did not go with a Colt/Ruger/Kimber....etc Why spend hundreds of extra dollars on a tinkering toy?

HERETIC!

How DARE you suggest the the pinnacle of John Moses Browning (PBUHN!) needs modifications! And a PAINT job!

Well, if it was 1914 I probably wouldn't touch a thing

Cool! That prompts a search for my modified slide pin I use(d) on my issue pistol. One of my buddies put "The Punisher" grips on his 1911 while downrange.

I over did it slightly and can just barely start the pin moving with my finger. Not like I plan on stripping it down while under fire though and there is always something around to push it in with.

I just put these grips on to have something different when I bought it. I really like them now though. We will see how I end up duracoating it before I decide if I keep the grips or go with something else. I do like knowing they are the only set of grips in the world with that exact pattern though.
