It's an Quality Hardware carbine whose receiver was made by Union Switch and Signal Co. Un-Qualities are an un-common carbine variation and yours looks like a nice example. The metal colors look funky in your pictures but that might be just your camera settings or the lighting you used. Congratulations on a very nice inheritance.

You should check the lug on your bolt for any letters that are on it. The round bolt is a bit late for your serial number. But your carbine look very nice indeed.

Thanks for sharing a very rare example in great condition. If it is all original as it appears I would say it would bring more money than a similar IP carbine. Value 4 to 5 thousand maybe more.

My suspicion is that it's a restoration. The stock should be high wood, and the metal has a slight "soft" appearance that would indicate sandblasting prior to reparkerizing. UN-Qualities make great candidates for restoration, as all the parts except the receiver are standard QHMC items and fairly easy to get. Still a good piece to have, however, and the price was right :) .

Can you do another picture like the second one with the barrel band slipped back out of the way?

Winchester. You can see a part of the "W" stamp, and also a part of the circled "PW" Winchester proof mark. This is a little unusual, as most UN-Qualities left Chicago with Underwood 2-44 barrels. QHMC used just about everybody's barrels, though, including WRA, so it's not necessarily incorrect, just unusual.

Between Sept. 1943 and March 1944, QH used about 30,000 Winchester barrels.
