View Full Version : holes prevent unertl mounting?

Would the holes already drilled in this receiver interfere with mounting a rear mount for a Unertl? I'm trying to gather the necessary stuff to build a M1941 clone and this receiver seems appropriate. I'm just worried that the existing holes would prevent the proper positioning of the "O" mount. Any thoughts??

Thanks,

Not knowing the distance measured center to center of the holes I cannot provide an answer. I would recommend contacting Chuck in Denver. He posts here a lot. He does excellent work and would be able to drill and tap the receiver and barrel correctly for the Unertl mounts and at the proper distance.

Is that a punch mark in front of the serial number?

Overlay the base over the holes and see if they line up. You may be surprised.

The base that came off was a Redfield if that helps :

Once I get all the necessary stuff together I hope to send it off to Chuck for final assembly. I currently have a Malcom scope tweaked by Creedmoor Sports as well as a new stock from the CMP. If this receiver will work out I'll snag a Criterion barrel from the CMP and get it all put together. The receiver is the big problem area. thanks for any hellp.

You can measure the hole spacing and get Steve Earl to make you an "o" mount that fits them. Just look for Steve Earl Products, or Unertl Blocks with google and you'll find him. I'm willing to bet that your holes are standard for the block anyway. I wouldn't redrill a new hole. Get Steve to make one that will fit. Since the receiver is already drilled for the Redfield, you could use it as an A4. It is legal for CMP.

holes are the same
and NO, you cant use a 1903 as an A4....it was based off the A3..
