Need help with the value of this 1911 mag pouch and mags. It's dated Sept. 1918 and only one mag is marked, R on one nothing on the other although both appear to be mfg buy the same maker.

ThanksLon gonene

Pouch no more then 10 bucks, brand new pouchs from that era are a dime a dozen. Don't keep track of mag prices but if not 'two tone' maybe 10 ea.?

Actually the 1918 pouches will bring between $15.00 and $20.00 in todays market at a good gunshow. The R mags, if the bluing is nice, can bring in the $30.00 to $40.00 range.

Can you elaborate on the "R" marking on the mag? Were they a mfg marking or something else. What does the "two tone" refer to?

Thanks, Longone

If the mag is all solid blued finish then it is most likely a Risdon mfg. Co. manufactured mag worth 30 to 40 dollars in nice condition. If it is a Two Tone mag (Blued on bottom half or two thirds and in the white toward the top where is was hardened) and marked R on top of lip it is probably a Risdon Tool and machine Co. mag but worth 60 or 70 dollars. If the R is on the bottom of the lip and the mag is two toned then it is a Raymond Engineering Corp mag and worth maybe 70 dollars in nice condition. Hope this helps you. Close up detailed pictures of the mags and their markings would help.

Thanks for your reply, as you can see only one mag is marked with an"R" but both have the same vintage look, If that makes sense. Both are in good shape overall.

Thanks again, Longone

White does not make a good background for gun photos unless you compensate or use spot metering.
