has anyone come across a japan marked mark II fiighting knife?? I had won a govt. liquidation auction of 10 mark II's from the military a few years ago and this was the only one like it, has leather scabbard like the others, grips were alittle thicker and more crude, blade had lots of rust and shallow blood groove, blade is same as other, could be rare??

There were several Japanese copies of this style knife made beginning in the 1960s. My guess is that the knife was either a private purchase that got turned in accidentally or was purchased to turn in so that the soldier could either keep the regular issue one or not have to pay for losing one. The ad here is from the 1967 Kiffe catalog.
