Do original Marine 1903 Unertl scoped rifles have the receiver holes drilled completely through the receiver or are they blind holes that are drilled and tapped?

The photos of original Marine 1903 rifles in Senich's U.S. Marine Corps Scout-Sniper book have the receiver Unertl scope block in various locations on the receiver, from up against the rear sight to spaced somewhat even on the front of the reciever.

I am in the process of creating a replica 1903 sniper rifle after acquiring an early 8X Unertl 1-1/4" target scope ( not a USMC Sniper marked scope), I have the scope blocks and and want the actual scope block mounting to be as historically accurate as I can.

I already know the holes for the barrel block are blind holes.

The 1903 is serial number 1501628, so that everyone is aware that serial number rifle is a replica Marine sniper "build".

Thanks in advance,

The rear base butts up against the rear sight base. Beware some of Senich's illustrations. For that matter, some of Brophy's.

A big thank you to Marine A5 Sniper for answering my questions on how to do things. A few pictures of my "build" results.

nice piece....I'd throw a nice, broken-in 1907 sling on her ... I bet that rifle will be a shooter..
