What was the attraction of this Lithgow that had 41 bids and went for $750, and not a hooked quillion? Thanks, Don

Found a possible answer on the Enfield Forum at Gunboards. It was a common P1907 that two bidders chased. Speculation was one bidder may have had the matching serial numbered Enfield, perhaps the other bidder had the consecutive serial numbered P1907? Perhaps the winner will come forward on one of the forums. FYI, Don

Beats me, as they are common here in the RSA . Other than the serial no. explination the only thing going for it is the nice condition and markings. I have a few in my collection and could get more at a fraction of the price?

Must be the 43 scabbard driving the price !! I got a 1914 dated one and I don't think its going to bring that kind of coin
unless I miss match it with a 43 Mangrovite scabbard.

Did you notice the two bidders driving up the price only had 2 and 11 feedbacks respectively? You used to be able to check more info on bidders such as date signed up, items & sellers bid on, bidding history, etc. which could help point to shill bidders. Apparently not anymore. Probably nothing crook about it, but I'm just sayin'.

Cheers,

Mark
